Donating to an Existing Fund or Starting Your Own Fund
The first scholarship was awarded in 1988 from a fund created by the EastHill Community Organization Scholarship Fund. Money that was dedicated to supporting a graduating senior the the Kent School District, who would attend a vocational/technical school within the State of Washington. This scholarship still exists today because it was set up as an endowed fund, which means the principal of the fund stays intact and scholarships are awarded from the growth and interest of the fund on an annual basis.
