TALENT QUEST The foundation has supported Kent Has Talent in past years and is in the process of coordinating the 2025 Talent Quest, encouraging participation from all of our surrounding communities. The 2025 Talent Showcase serves as a platform for nurturing and appreciating diverse art forms, such as dance, poetry readings, and instrumental and vocal performances. Our aspiration is to support these talented individuals from South King County with the hope that they experience a sense of pride and accomplishment as they develop their talent. Who knows -- there is even the potential for some to advance in careers that spotlight their artistry and enable them to further express themselves through their chosen art forms.
KENT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL Starting in 2013, the Kent Community Foundation partnered with the Kent School District and Kent International Festival to do an art competition and a display of art pieces that won prizes. A new partnership with Green River College Interurban Center for the Arts was created to display artwork, produced through the Kent School District Art docent program, at the Kent International Festival.
In 2023, the Foundation partnered with the Kent Library, Greater Kent Historical Society, and Hillside Church to do a collaborative interactive art project. This was also the first year for the Kent Educators of Color to display pieces of art from that year's art competition.
COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP EVENT The Community Scholarship event serves as a celebration of achievement for the recipients and the entire community. It provides an opportunity to recognize and honor the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of students striving to achieve their academic goals despite various challenges. Holding one collaborative event brings Kent School District administrators, teachers, donors, scholarship evaluators, recommenders, and elected officials out to one large well-attended event.
This annual collaborative scholarship event is possible due to local businesses, organizations, and individuals having a common purpose of supporting the educational aspirations of deserving students and providing a broader range of scholarship opportunities that cater to diverse fields of study and backgrounds. This expandes access to financial support and maximizes the impact on the community
ADOPT A STREET PROGRAM In the spring of 2023 the Kent Community Foundation joined the City of Kent Adopt a Street Program to do a regular trash cleanup on Willis Street, from Central Avenue to HWY #167 overpass. This is one of many entry points to our community, and we want to help KEEP KENT CLEAN and show our support and take pride in our City.
